Preparation
The homeowner takes part in preparing the rooms for the removal process. It is not necessary for the homeowner to remove large heavy objects. The work crew will either work around large heavy pieces of furniture, or move them according to the discretion of the foreman.

NORMAL ROOMS
Most normal rooms contain objects that are small. These objects can be moved easily by homeowners and are primarily considered room decor. These objects may include: lamps, plants and figurines. Wall decor must be moved as well. Wall decor includes: wall hangings, pictures, art work and mirrors. Adequate room preparation will contribute to the efficiency and productivity of the crew.

CLOSETS
Most homeowners do not choose to have the acoustic ceiling removed inside of their closets. If closets are your own personal preference, remove the items off from the top shelf only. Should you have mirrored closet doors, the doors must be removed and placed outside of the house prior to crew arrival. The crew will work with standard wood closet doors.

KITCHEN & BATH
Most building codes prevented acoustic applications in kitchen and bath areas. However, some dressing rooms, powder rooms and kitchenettes do have acoustic ceilings. If this is true with your home, remove any objects that can be tipped over and broken.
The Procedure
Dove Ceilings is unlike any other drywall company out there! They have a very special procedure that will have your ceiling looking brand new and more beautiful than you can imagine! For a better understanding of the actual procedure, read below.
Initial Set-up

Floor Sheeting

All floors are enveloped in plastic. Wood flooring is double wrapped to provide a sound vapor barrier.
Wall Sheeting

All walls are enveloped in plastic that is in turn fastened with tape to the floor plastic. Certain wall coverings, such as wallpaper, and paper borders are exposed to damage. Please consult your estimator to determine if your wall coverings are subject to damage.
Fixtures

To insure a quality job, all ceiling fixtures are taken down by the crew prior to the removal of your acoustic ceilings. Some ceiling fixtures cannot be removed by your crew. These fixtures will include: heavy chandeliers, ceiling fans, etc.
Old Ceilings Removal

Have your ceilings been previously removed by another contractor? Do you see tape joints and areas that were not prepared properly? Dove Ceilings can make your ceiling look beautiful!
Repairs

Your acoustic texture hides many flaws on the surface of your ceiling. Most of these flaws are resurfaced at no additional cost before the crew gives you the new textured look. When areas are exposed that need repair and are considered over and above the normal resurfacing, you will be charged accordingly.
Application of New Ceiling Material

Conventional textures were developed with the West Coast housing boom. This boom occurred during the 1970's and 1980's and these techniques were produced for the purpose of speed. Of these, the "orange peel" and "knockdown" textures were the most common. These two textures are applied with pneumatic air driven equipment and are most commonly found in tract homes. A custom hand produced texture, known as skip-trowel, is common to high end housing and is also used by Dove Ceilings. Consult your estimator for additional information.
Clean-up & Disposal

Each home is enveloped in plastic. The plastic provides a barrier that separates the work environment from your home environment. When the work crew removes this envelope, the bag of debris is hauled to a designated EPA disposal site. The debris is never disposed of in household receptacles or landfills not designed to accommodate acoustic material.
