Texturing Styles
Conventional textures were developed with the West Coast housing boom. This boom occurred during the 1970's and 1980's and these techniques were produced for the purpose of speed. Of these, the "orange peel" and "knockdown" textures were the most common. These two textures are applied with pneumatic air driven equipment and are most commonly found in tract homes. Dove Ceilings does not use any of these methods. Custom, hand produced textures common to high end housing are used exclusively. Consult your estimator for additional information.
Can it be painted right away
Your new custom ceiling must cure for a period of time. The recommended time to enable an adequate cure is 48 hours.
What type of paints should be used
The outcome of your ceiling will be largely determined by the type of paint that you or your painting contractor uses. Before you apply the paint you have selected as your finish, use primer. Many painting contractors will contend that primer is not necessary. Don't make the mistake of skipping this step. You may have to paint all over again. Additionally, just any old primer will not do. The only primer that offers guaranteed results on an acoustic ceiling is an "oil based primer sealer". There are many of these sealers out on the market. Two common sealers are Kilz or
Zinsser, and can be purchased at any major paint supply or hardware store.

Plaster Ceilings
Plaster materials were commonly used in homes and pose special difficulty. Unlike drywall, plaster acoustic is hard and not soluble with water.
